Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to JMS Issue #1 of 2020. We appreciate the support of our readers from around the world. This is the content of the current issue of the Journal of Massage Science. We hope you will enjoy:

Our Person of the Month is Steve Smith, CMMP, LMT from Colorado. JMS’s readers chose Steve’s contribution, “Medical Massage vs Parkinson’s Disease as the Winner of the 2019 International Case of the Month Contest. Steve is SOMI’s former student and he shares with our readers details of his successful Medical Massage practice.

In the section “Appreciation Award” we introduce to therapists the massage journal with the most valuable educational contribution to the clinical branch of the massage therapy profession.

In Boris Prilutsky’s Blog we published Boris’s new contribution “Do you have enough expertise to break my fascia?” .

In the Science of Medical Massage section, we published Part II of Dr. Turchaninov’s article, ‘New Scientific Data to Revisit Active Trigger Points Concept.” The article reviews the impact active trigger points have on the local circulation in the soft tissues.

In JMS’s marketing section we published Part I of the article, “Master the Massage Business Mindset.” This piece was submitted to the Journal by our former student Cory Fairchild, CMMP, LMT, also an expert in 21st Century marketing for health businesses.

In our Case of the Month section, SOMI’s current Brenda Howell, LMBT, shares with readers the results of Medical Massage therapy for a very complex clinical case, ‘Medical Massage vs Body Trauma.’

Finally, as usual, you will find a lot of helpful information in our Good Apples/Bad Apples section.

Dr. Ross Turchaninov, Editor in Chief
