Our Person of the Month is Susi Crawford, CMMP, LMT from Dunedin, Florida. The case she submitted to the JMS International Case of the Month contest was chosen by 84% of our readers as the winner. Susi is one of our SOMI former students and we are proud of her professional achievements.
The 2017 JMS Appreciation Award goes to Massage&Bodywork Magazine for the best articles in regard to clinical applications of massage therapy.

In the section Introducing New CMMP we proudly present recent graduate of our Medical Massage Certification Program Jeff Woods, LMT, COTA/L, CMMP from Inverness, Florida. Besides being exceptional therapist Jeff is head of Massage Therapy Program at Withlacoochee Technical College.
In our News from the Clinic section we share with you interesting cases that we have recently observed within our Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Colorado Springs partner-clinics.
Unfortunately, JMS was forced to answer another T. Walton critique of our initial article on the clinical rules of Oncology Massage application. This second Response to T. Walton is written by Dr. Jeff Cullers, DC, CMMP and Dr. Ross Turchaninov and it addresses baseless and unscientific claims by this author. Considering the importance of the subject we suggest all therapists who practice Oncology Massage read our original article, Ms. Walton’s critiques and our responses.
In the Medical Massage section of JMS we have published two important articles:
“The Placebo Effect And Its Role In Massage Therapy, Part I is written by one of our frequent contributors, B. Prilutsky, MA, LMT. We consider this article a very important and informative piece. The article explains what the Placebo Effect is and its role in the healing process.
In the article Let’s Talk About Neuromuscular Junctions, Part II: Evaluation we continue to cover the topic of neuromuscular junctions and their role in the muscles function. Part II covers evaluation of the tension build up around neuromuscular junctions.
In our Case of the Month section, one of our current students, Brian Boetel, CMT from Indiana shares with our readers an interesting clinical case, “Medical Massage vs The Somatic/Visceral Puzzle.”
