SEMINAR PROGRAM
Day 1. Cervical Pain: Trapezius and Levator Scapulae Muscle Syndrome
It is impossible to successfully practice Medical Massage without mastering Medical Massage techniques. Our hands-on Medical Massage Basics class allows therapists to optimize their technical performance during the clinical application of massage therapy. Some techniques discussed during the class can be used as part of full-body massage sessions to build up a successful preventive massage therapy practice.
Day 2. Medical Massage Protocol for Rotator Cuff Syndrome/Frozen Shoulder
We start this class with SOMI’s new subject – evaluation and treatment of patients with tension and spasms in pectoralis muscles. From mimicking Cardiac Pain in the form of Fase Cardialgia Syndrome to various abnormalities in the function of the upper extremities, tension in pectoralis muscles is indeed very frequently mistreated with somatic syndrome. We will discuss all anatomical and pathological aspects as well as detailed evaluation and hands-on application of Medical Massage protocol.
Day 3. Medical Massage Protocols for Tensor Fascia Lata Muscle and the Iliotibial Band (IT Band)
The third day of the class covers the most frequent cause of pain and dysfunction in the lateral hip and knee joints as well as the lateral aspect of the thigh. The class begins with the anatomy and physiology of the Tensor Fascia Lata Muscle and the Iliotibial Band (IT Band). Afterward, we discuss possible causes of tension in the Tensor Fascia Lata Muscle and evaluate all soft tissue aspects on a layer-by-layer basis.
The rest of the day is dedicated to hands-on training in Medical Massage Protocol to restore the function of the Tensor Fascia Lata muscle and the IT Band.
